Family History Research
Family History Research takes in Genealogy Research. It tries to
fill in the white spaces among the basic genealogical data. Its aim
is to find out the locations and periods in which the ancestors lived,
and only then can history can come alive. As the main sources for
searching an ancestor's life and resident area, available informations
are included: land records, chronicle books, orphans books, town
council
books, suzerain estate records, tax records, marriage articles, testaments,
military records, corporation books, school reports, cadastral maps, designating
maps, photographs, censuses etc. It is necessary to put to use materials of libraries,
museums and various historical books and magazines. All found materials
would help to tell life story about ancestor's family. Of course
this work is very difficult, and never ends, because it is possible to
find something new even after a search appears to have been completed.
The reason is, many sources are still not processed, and the historic knowledge
progresses.
To complete a successful Family Research, it is important to do a field
research. This involves visiting and exploring the resident area.
It may help to add dimension to visualize your ancestry knowledge.
It is also very emotional to visit places where the ancestors lived, walked,
worked, and died. A lot of old buildings are still standing such
as churches, parsonages, schools, factories, old town or village houses.
Sometimes there is the only a tomb in the cemetery to keep a memory.
The great triumph is to find relatives still living. They can provide
fantastic information on the past as well as on the present. Their
stories can be an active complement of descriptions of what once happened.
